Telus CEO Donates 3 Months of Salary to Healthcare Workers Fighting COVID-19

Telus has confirmed this morning its CEO Darren Entwistle is donating three months of his salary towards the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic.

Earlier this week, an internal memo to employees noted Entwistle was donating his salary but today Telus provided more details. For the months of April, May and June 2020, the CEO’s salary will be donated to Canadian healthcare workers fighting the coronavirus pandemic.

Telus also notes The Entwistle Family Foundation, founded by the CEO and family in 2018, will also be matching his donation, “in order to double the positive financial impact for health caregivers and, by extension, those vulnerable citizens who need assistance the most.”

The donation will be used to purchase protective personal equipment for healthcare workers, such as masks and gloves, to go with ventilators and other equipment in need. According to Telus, they note to their knowledge, Entwistle is the first CEO in Canada to donate salary towards the fight against COVID-19.

Entwistle’s annual base salary is $1,375,000 CAD. The three-month donation works out to $343,750, while the total after being matched by his foundation is $687,500.
