Telus Named Fastest Network in the World, 5G Expands to More Cities

Telus has announced it has been named the fastest network in the world, according to OpenSignal, as the wireless company took the crown for the Global Award for Download Speed Experience. Telus today also announced its 5G network has expanded to more cities across Canada.

According to OpenSignal, the company’s average 4G LTE download speeds came in at 75.8 Mbps, topping South Korea’s 5G network in second place at 59 Mbps.

“Excellence in download speeds appears to be something of a Canadian specialty, with Telus being the sole Global Winner with a score of 75.8 Mbps and its closest rival being its Canadian peer, Bell,” noted the OpenSignal report released late Tuesday evening.

As for the expansion of the Telus 5G network, the company says 50 communities will have 5G by the end of 2020, with speeds capable of up to 1.7 Gbps. That should be more than enough to surf Facebook from your iPhone.
