Download iOS 5.1 For iPhone, iPad & iPod Touch [OTA + Direct .IPSW Links]

Apple has just pushed iOS 5.1, the newest update for its iPhone, iPod and iPad operating system, with support for a Japanese version of Siri, an updated camera app for iPad and more. The update can either be installed OTA if you are already running iOS 5.x on your device or simply connect your iOS device to your computer running the latest version of iTunes and hit update when prompted (DON’T IF YOU WANT TO KEEP THE JAILBREAK).

A complete changelog for iOS 5.1 is given below:

– Japanese language support for Siri (availability may be limited during initial rollout)
– Photos can now be deleted from Photo Stream
– Camera shortcut now always visible on Lock Screen for iPhone 4S, iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS and iPod touch (4th generation)
– Camera face detection now highlights all detected faces
– Redesigned Camera app for iPad
– Genius Mixes and Genius playlists for iTunes Match subscribers
– Audio for TV programs and films on iPad optimized to sound louder and clearer
– Podcast controls for playback speed and a 30-second rewind for iPad
– Addresses bugs affecting battery life
– Fixes an issue that occasionally caused audio to drop for outgoing calls

For those who want to restore or update their iOS devices manually, here are the direct links to iOS 5.1 .IPSW files:

I’m really frustrated that Siri is still not optimized for Canada in this update. Does the iphoneincanada team have any new info??

Doesn’t look like location support for Canada is here yet. Wait for WWDC is my guess.

Yeah, we’ll see the announcement in June and the release in October. Le sigh…

SIRI is still useless in Canada.   I’m pretty sure there won’t be support until iPhone 5, and even then it may not happen.

My guess is Siri support for Canada will come with iOS 6.

So, that’s it? Really? Short of the camera shortcut on the lock screen, I’m not seeing user enhancements (not surprising given the log list at download), so one hopes the under-the-hood fixes are ‘insanely great’.

Still, no ability to add attachments from Mail, can’t get rid of Newsstand and Reminders remains useless to me.

After updating to 5.1, you gotta buy (for a measly $4.99) the new iOS version of iPhoto. It is soooooo sweet!!!! 🙂

There is still no location info from siri but now she’ll at least tell you what time it is and what the weather will be like tomorrow in canada.
I sent this in as a tip, but as usual, the bone heads on this site dont pay attention. I dont know why i bother sometimes.

Anyone else having trouble connecting to the server to get the download? I’ve been trying for days, I’ve gone through all the troubleshooting steps. I can’t believe Apple’s servers are this over-burdened.

If your iOS device is jailbroken, you might experience an error message for the OTA update. Try iTunes.

Nope, she’s stock under the hood. iTunes is where I’m getting the message.
