Apple Announces Education Event to Take Place in New York City on January 19th

The rumoured Apple event related to education has been officially announced by Apple to take place on January 19th, notes The Loop:

Apple on Wednesday sent out an invitation to The Loop and other media outlets to attend a special event being held in New York City next week.

Apple says the event will be about an education announcement and will take place on January 19 at the Guggenheim Museum.

The event could lead to an Apple revolution in the textbook industry, as Steve Jobs noted in his biography it was ‘ripe for digital destruction’:

“The process by which states certify textbooks is corrupt,” he said. “But if we can make thetextbooks free, and them come with the iPad, then they don’t have to be certified. The crappy economy at the state level will last for a decade, and we can give them an opportunity to circumvent that whole process and save money.”

Any predictions out there? What do you think will come out of this announcement?

If textbooks do go digital, it means no more textbook buy back at colleges/universities for cash.

Buying textbooks in university is a waste of time and money since they never are read anyways. The buy back is good because it helps pay for lunch!
