Microsoft Office for iOS Reportedly Coming in 2013 [Update]

The Verge reports Microsoft Office for iOS is set to arrive in 2013, according to confirmation from Microsoft’s Czech Republic team (via IHNED):

A press release, seen by The Verge, from Microsoft’s Czech Republic team confirms the availability for iOS and Android. “In addition to Windows, Office will be also available on other operating systems, Windows Phone, Windows RT, Mac OS, Android, iOS and Symbian,” says Microsoft, while separately noting that there will also be a new version of Office Web Apps too. Office for iPad has long been rumored to be in the works, offering iOS users a way to access Word, Excel, and PowerPoint documents from Apple’s tablet and phone devices.

The press release notes a December launch for businesses with consumers getting sometime after March of 2013. After consulting with a US Microsoft representative, the latter told The Verge nothing had been announced yet.

Back in July, Microsoft was seeking to hire engineers to product Office for iOS. Earlier in February of this year, an apparent version of Office for iPad was leaked to The Daily.

Who’s excited for this? I can’t wait to see Clippy again!

Update: IHNED contacted 9to5Mac to clarify the release would be sometime after March.
