There were rumors of a 16GB iPhone a couple days ago, and as of Tuesday afternoon the speculation became a reality! Apple has announced a new high capacity 16GB iPhone for $499US, and a 32GB iPod Touch for $499US as well. The hardware for both devices has remained unchanged, and the 16GB iPhone will most likely be running 1.1.3 firmware. It’s available for purchase now online.
This is great news for 1st time iPhone owners in the USA…but not for us Canadians since the iPhone has not been announced in Canada yet. I would expect auctions on eBay to increase with people selling their 4GB and 8GB models to upgrade.
Personally, I haven’t even filled up my 8GB yet, so another 8GB would be nice, but definitely not worth the money to upgrade. You can’t fit your entire music collection/movies on the iPhone anyways, so I have no problem with syncing and transferring data back and forth.

I agree with you iPhone Fan, I think that upgrading is not worth it just yet.. maybe when iPhone 2.0 is released and only if it has many new great features.

hmm 16Gb iPhone.. Let’s just hope that someone releases a 1.1.3 OTB hack, soon (like in 10 days or so..) so that I can safely buy my iPhone in the States.
It would be nice if I can get my hands on the 16Gb and then hack it to use up here.. or even if I don’t hack it.. i can keep it as a itouch for long time (i wouldn’t mind it) until someone oficially supports it up here.. what do you think?…
Well I wouldn’t purchase one right now but I would be just lieing haha I always fill mine up with Music, ROMs, Videos and etc. so it would be nice but if it’s gonna come with 1.1.3FW ewwwwwwwwwwwww! haha I can’t unlock it right now, not even with a ***SIM, so it would be just another expensive iTouch until a unlock happens and that is really annoying when u have a iPhone and can’t use it for what it is meant too! 😛 I like my unlocked 1.1.2 iPhone 8GB right now 🙂 It’s works great! But down the road if there is an unlock released for the 1.1.3FW and 16GB I would gladly sell my 8GB iPhone to someone. So if ur looking for one in Canada, just feel free to send me an email and we could work out a deal 😉 hehe
