First AirPods Pro Unboxing and Hands-On Videos Hit the Web

Airpods pro unboxing

Apple has provided a select few YouTubers with the first chance to unbox and go hands-on with AirPods Pro announced yesterday.

Marques Brownlee (MKBHD) posted a video this morning showing off AirPods Pro getting unboxed and some quick first impressions.

AirPods Pro feature Active Noise Cancellation (ANC) and Transparency modes. ANC blocks out exterior sounds around you, while Transparency mode is the opposite, allowing users to hear their environment around them, like regular AirPods. ANC mode can be turned on via Control Center on iOS, Apple Watch, by asking Siri, or by pressing and holding the new ‘force sensor’ button on the stem.

Brownlee was able to test out the Ear Tip Fit Test (under AirPods settings on your iPhone within Bluetooth), which uses the microphones in AirPods Pro to determine if you’re using the right ear tip for a perfect fit.

As for AirPods Pro sound quality, MKBHD says they “sound fine” but they are “better” with ANC enabled, noting the latter is “pretty impressive” for earbuds and on par with new Beats Solo Pro.

As for why AirPods Pro have the ‘pro’ name? Brownlee says “I don’t know”.

AirPods Pro cost $329 CAD in Canada and will be available on October 30 in stores. Stay tuned as we’ll have our own hands-on review coming shortly.
