Alleged ‘AirPods Pro 2’ Photos Show Speaker Holes in Case, Strap Attachment

The folks over at MacRumors have just shared a bunch of leaked photos allegedly showing Apple’s next-generation ‘AirPods Pro 2,’ which are believed to be currently in development and are slated for release in 2022.

Looking at the AirPods Pro 2 images, it seems that the earbuds will retain the same design as the current model, despite previous claims from Mark Gurman who has suggested they may sport a stemless design.

There are unusual speaker holes at the bottom of the case, as well as a metal loop at the side, which is supposedly meant for attaching a strap.

“The person who provided the images to us said that they come from an “Apple internal source,” and the person declined to provide additional information,” notes the source, adding that it is not possible to verify the accuracy of these images.

The ‌AirPods Pro‌ in the photos features the same design as the original ‌AirPods Pro‌, with the exception of a missing optical sensor toward the underside of each earbud.

The source who provided the images says that these speaker holes are being introduced because in iOS 16, Apple will be adding a new feature where “Find My will be available for the case and buds separately.” The speaker holes will let the case play a sound to allow it to be located.
