Amazon Confirms Disney+ to Stream on Fire TV in Canada

Yesterday, Disney announced its Disney+ streaming service would be available on Fire TV devices, but there was no confirmation it would be available in Canada on November 12, the launch of the service.

Canadians always get anxiety about whether a product or service is also launching here and always need local confirmation. Well, this morning Amazon Canada has let iPhone in Canada know Disney+ will indeed be available here at launch.

Disney+ will be available on Fire TV streaming devices, Fire TV Edition smart TVs, and compatible Fire Tablets starting November 12.

Amazon says on Fire TV, you can download Disney+ just by asking Alexa and saying, “Alexa, open Disney Plus”. This will work on your Alexa Voice Remote, paired Echo device or new Fire TV Cube with Alexa. Amazon also says Disney+ content will show up in Fire TV’s search results as well.

Users can say something like, “Alexa, play The Mandalorian,” to start streaming from results. You can also say something like, “Alexa, find Star Wars movies.”

Amazon says Fire TV and Fire Tablet customers can sign up for Disney+ and its free 7-day trial right on their device at launch, at the price of $8.99 CAD per month (the regular Disney+ price in Canada). For existing users of Disney+ who signed up elsewhere, they can just log right into their account.
