Amazon Echo Show 15 Coming to Canada, Pricing at $329

On Tuesday morning Amazon held a special virtual event, announcing a flurry of products, but only some are making their way to Canada, including the new Echo Show 15.

The Echo Show 15 is a smart display with a 15.6-inch HD (1080p; 1980 x 1080 resolution) screen that can hang on the wall or sit on the table, that includes a 5MP front camera. Built-in are a pair of 1.6-inch speakers for playing audio. The device is powered by Amazon’s AZ2 Neural Edge processor.

Amazon says the new Echo Show 15 is made to organize your household, making it easy for following recipes, controlling your smart home, watching entertainment and also viewing photos.

Powered by Alexa, the Echo Show 15 can provide step-by-step cooking instructions, offer picture-in-picture to view compatible security camera feeds, plus stream shows, music, audiobooks and more. Your photo albums can be displayed from Amazon Photos, while the front-facing camera has a privacy shutter on the side to disable it when necessary.

The front camera on Echo Show 15 will recognize you when you appear in front of the display, and show personalized content, similar to the Google Nest Max Hub.

With Custom Sounds, you can teach Alexa to recognize custom sounds. For example, Alexa can learn the ‘beep’ sound of fridge when the door is left open, and send you an alert to close it.

With a redesigned home screen and Alexa widgets, you can customize Echo Show 15 to see your shared family calendar, manage to-do lists and reminders, and find meal inspiration. Plus, Echo Show 15 can adapt to your home environment with full-screen photos or art, so it’s always there when you need it, but fades beautifully into the background when you don’t,” added Taylor.

The Echo Show 15 can be oriented in both landscape and portrait mode. Amazon says compatible stands for Echo Show 15 will become available when it launches soon in Canada, priced at $329.99 CAD.
