According to CNet, a group of employees at Apple have drafted and published an open letter to CEO Tim Cook and the company’s senior leadership, making multiple requests that boil down to demanding the company “fulfill its promise of inclusion, diversity and equity.”
The letter went live only days after Apple shut down an internal Slack channel dedicated to discussing pay equity among employees.

The U.S. National Labor Relations Board is currently probing Apple over two complaints from employees alleging unfair labor practices by the tech giant.
There has also been a significant uptick of employee activism at Apple this year, with an internal petition pushing back against the iPhone maker’s return-to-work policies in June, and employees (both past and present) organizing the #AppleToo movement against workplace harassment, discrimination, and more in August.
The open letter was posted by the same #AppleToo group on Friday, outlining several requests from employees, including:
- Transparent, livable, equitable, and fair compensation across all of Apple.
- Increased privacy protection for employees, who are “aggressively “encouraged” to sync their personal iClouds to their devices”.
- An audit of all third-party relationships.
- Increased accountability across Human Resources, Business Conduct, Employee Relations, and Leadership at Apple.
- Implement a process to register group concerns.
- Re-investigate and resolve all reports of “racism, discrimination, abuse, harassment, concerted activity suppression and retaliation” at the company.
Employees have certainly caught Apple at an opportune time, as the company will want to do all it can to avoid bad press ahead of its iPhone 13 launch event, expected to take place in the third week of September.
