Apple to Hold iPhone 6 Event on Tuesday, September 9 says Re/code [u]

According to Re/code, Apple will hold its iPhone 6 event on Tuesday, September 9, according to well-connected John Paczkowski:

Apple has scheduled a big media event for Tuesday, Sept. 9 — a date to which Apple numerologists will strain to attribute significance. As with September events past, the focal point of this one is to be Apple’s next-generation iPhones, which are expected to feature larger displays of 4.7 and 5.5 inches and run speedy new A8 processors. Apple declined comment.

Last year, when Paczkowski also correctly announced the event date for Apple’s iPhone 5s, then writing for AllThingsD (Re/code’s former company) at the time.

Expect a ‘Yep’ coming from Jim Dalrymple. Get ready folks!

Update: The WSJ says its sources also confirm an iPhone 6 event will be held on September 9:

Apple is expected to hold an event to introduce its new iPhones on Sept. 9, according to a person familiar with the matter.

The timing of Apple’s announcement would fall in line with its recent track record of announcing the new phones in early- to mid-September and then starting sales a few weeks later.
