Today, CIBC has announced its mobile app can go one step further and replace a lost or stolen credit card “in a few simple steps.” New cards can be used instantly in mobile wallets before their physical card arrives in the mail.

This ability to replace a lost or stolen credit card is also available on the web and it means customers no longer require to speak to a phone representative to get a replacement card.

“CIBC is proud to be the first of the big five banks in Canada to offer clients the ability to replace a lost or stolen credit card through online and mobile banking, giving clients peace of mind and minimizing the disruption that comes from having to wait for a replacement card to arrive by mail,” said Lynne Kilpatrick, Head, CIBC Card Products, in an issued statement to iPhone in Canada.

Replacement cards can be used instantly with Apple Pay, Google Pay or Samsung Pay and will be uploaded automatically to your mobile wallet, allowing you to use the new card right away, without the need to wait for the physical card to arrive first.

CIBC says if you don’t already have Apple Pay set up, replacement cards in your Wallet will be added the following business day.

“In today’s digital world, CIBC is constantly innovating to deliver experiences that our clients need and increasingly expect,” added Kilpatrick.
