To help homeowners maximize their energy savings, ecobee is launching a new feature that automatically pauses heating or cooling. When paired with SmartSensor for doors and windows and Haven, ecobee’s SmartThermostat can now pause your HVAC if it detects that a door or window has been open for five minutes or more.
Users will receive a notification about which door or window is open, with the option to pause or resume the system. When a door or window has been closed again for 30 seconds, heating or cooling will resume.
Pause when open is especially helpful during the summer months when families may open doors and windows to let in fresh air, but forget to turn off their air conditioning.
“ecobee Haven is more than a home monitoring system. It’s a smart home management system,” said Stuart Lombard, ecobee Founder and CEO. “Adding this feature to Haven underscores our commitment to building a comprehensive and sustainable smart home management system that connects home heating and cooling with home monitoring.
Ecobee’s flagship thermostat already supports Apple HomeKit, Amazon’s Alexa, Google Assistant and also SmartThings.
Homeowners can currently take advantage of a two-month free trial of Haven and ecobee’s SmartSensor for doors and windows, which are on sale from June 18 – July 2, 2021.
