Instagram Launches ‘Layout’ on iOS: Create Collages, Take Photo Booth Images [u]

Instagram has limited photo sharing to one image at a time, until now. Today the company has announced a new iOS app called Layout, which allows users to choose various layout options so they can upload more than one image (up to 9 images at a time in one photo). Previously, users would utilize an app such as Diptic to make that happen.

From imagining mirrored landscapes to sharing multiple moments from an entire adventure, we’ve seen these kinds of visual storytelling happening on Instagram and we’re inspired by it. With Layout, it’s easier than ever to unlock your creativity — and we can’t wait to see what you’ll make next.

Below are some examples of what you can do (for new users, you don’t need an account to use Layout):

Also new is a Faces option that shows images of people from your Camera Roll (using facial detection), plus a new Photo Booth option to take spontaneous pictures using your iPhone’s front-facing camera.

Layout is only for iOS and will be for download later today (and Android later in coming months).
