iOS 14.3 Beta Leaks ‘AirTags’ Details and Third Party Tracker Support

iOS 14.3 beta appears to be the gift that keeps on giving. After discovering an icon depicting rumoured AirPods Studio headphones, 9to5Mac’s Filipe Espósito has now found more evidence of Apple’s rumoured AirTags.

“Based on the internal iOS 14.3 files, we can affirm that AirTags are still on track to be announced by Apple. The company has included new videos and images that will guide users through the AirTags setup process,” writes Espósito.

Some of these photos and videos for AirTags were also found in an earlier iOS 14 internal build 9to5Mac got its hands on earlier this year.

The Find My app in iOS 14.3 beta has a hidden section named ‘Hawkeye’. This section details support for AirTags and third-party trackers such as Tile. Apple previously announced at WWDC support for third-party tracking accessories were coming.

Within the Find My app in iOS 14.3, there are details on how to set up tracking tags and how to place them on or into objects you want to track, such as luggage. AirTags and third-party trackers registered to the Find My app will be able to even locate items with only a Bluetooth connection.

AirTags can be linked to an Apple ID and if found cannot be reused. “Removing this item will allow it to be set up and used by another person and it will no longer be linked to your Apple ID,” details iOS 14.3 beta code. People who find your AirTags can also easily scan them to discover who it belongs to.

“Once you enable Lost Mode, this phone number will be visible on an Apple website that others can access to contact you whenever they found your lost item,” details iOS 14.3 beta.

We don’t know when AirTags—or AirPods Studio—will launch, but most likely it won’t be in 2020. There are more than enough new Apple products right now for consumers, heading into the holiday season.
