iOS 8 SMS Continuity Feature May be Delayed Till October
According to a report by iLounge, Apple may be delaying the activation of iOS 8 SMS Continuity feature till some time in October, most likely to coincide with the expected release of OS X Yosemite next month.
The iOS 8’s SMS Continuity feature, which was first shown off at Apple’s Worldwide Developer Conference earlier this year, will allow users with an iPhone and other iOS or OS X device to send and receive traditional SMS text messages from their iPad or Mac. But with iOS 8 set to go public next week, updated information on Apple’s page on iOS 8 Continuity suggests the feature won’t be available in the initial public release.
Earlier this week, Apple officially announced that iOS 8 will be available publicly starting Wednesday, September 17 and will be compatible with the iPhone 4s, iPhone 5, iPhone 5c, iPhone 5s, iPod touch 5th generation, iPad 2, iPad with Retina display, iPad Air, iPad mini and iPad mini with Retina display.
