Apple Said to Launch iPad Pro With A14X Chip, 5G, and Mini-LED Display in 2021

Reliable leaker L0vetodream has today claimed on Twitter that Apple is planning to launch new iPad Pro models with an A14X chip, 5G connectivity, and a Mini-LED display in the first or second quarter of next year (via MacRumors).

The leaker notes that the 2021 iPad Pro models will sport Qualcomm’s Snapdragon X55 modem, which supports both mmWave and sub-6GHz.

For those who aren’t familiar, mmWave is a set of 5G frequencies that offer ultra-fast speeds at short distances, ideal for dense urban areas, whereas the sub-6GHz 5G, while relatively slower than mmWave, allows the signals to travel further, and is better suited for suburban and rural areas.

Earlier reports, including those from Ming-Chi Kuo and Jon Prosser, have suggested that an iPad refresh may be due later this year. However, today’s report makes more sense given that Apple just refreshed the iPad Pro in March.
