Lyft Offers $3.25 Rides in Toronto During TTC Subway Weekend Closures

Parts of the TTC subway system will be closed this weekend for scheduled maintenance, which may come as an inconvenience to travellers. But ride-sharing company Lyft, which recently launched in Toronto, is planning to help fill the void with a promo for commuters, offering $3.25 flat rate rides.

Starting Saturday, customers will be able to ride for a $3.25 flat rate, per ride, to or from any Line 1 subway station (via blogTO). Lyft says customers will “pay $3.25 plus any amount over $10”, while pickup and drop-off must be within the coverage area (shown within the app).

Lyft says it got the idea to launch the promo when it learned parts of the TTC subway system would be shut down this weekend and every other weekend in February for maintenance.

During Lyft’s first month of operations in Canada, it said more rides took place to Union Station in Toronto more than any other stop in the city.

Lyft Toronto General Manager, Tim Houghton, said in a statement, “With the TTC’s Line 1 shut down for upgrades on weekends this month, we’re eager to help Torontonians continue to get where they need to go safely, affordably, and reliably.”

If you’re near a Line 1 subway station, enter promo code TOTRANSITFEB18 into the Lyft app to get 10 rides at $3.25 each, which are good for travel to or from any Line 1 station, during subway closures.

Starting February 3-25, Lyft rides starting on Saturday at 6AM until 12AM and Sunday from 8am until Monday at 1:30AM will be available for $3.25.
