New Nest Aware Plans Rolling Out in Canada, Package Detection Feature for Nest Hello

Nest aware canada

Google has announced its new Nest Aware plans are starting to roll out in Canada, nearly seven months after they were first announced.

Nest Aware now has “more affordable, simplified pricing”, now allowing customers to pay per home instead of per camera. Depending on the subscription, Nest Aware subscription provides video history, motion alerts and more.

Here are the pricing details in CAD dollars:

  • Nest Aware: $8/month (or $80/year; $6.67/mo) and 30 days of event video history
  • Nest Aware Plus: $16/month (or $160/year; $13.33/mo) and 60 days of event history and 10 days of 24/7 video history

New Nest Aware will start recording events when motion or sound is detected as normal. For Nest Hub Max, a Nest Aware subscription allows you to keep an eye on an elderly parent with Duo video calling.

If you have an existing subscription, Nest says you can upgrade through the Google Store. This will require you to migrate over to a Google Account if you haven’t done so already.

Nest Hello to Get Package Detection Feature

After previously debuting in the U.S., Canadians will now get the package detection feature for the Nest Hello video doorbell. If a package sized at least 8x10x1 inches is set down within view of your Nest Hello, you’ll get a notification a package is delivered.

Nest Hub and Nest Cam Indoor on Sale

Also today, Google says Nest Hub is on sale for $99.99 (save $70) and Nest Cam Indoor is on sale for $179.99 (save $70), available in the Google Store and most retailers.

While it’s nice to see the per home pricing, those seeking 24/7 video monitoring with a single camera, for example, will have to pay more for Nest Aware Plus, as it’s not available in the starting Nest Aware plan.
