Publicly funded TVO (TV Ontario) and Twitter have announced a partnership to stream The Agenda with Steve Paikin nightly, via a Periscope broadcast. According to TVO, this marks the first time a media organization has offered a nightly stream of its broadcast via Periscope in Canada.
TVO’s flagship current affairs program airs every weekday starting at 8PM EST (5PM PST), and is Ontario’s most-watched all-current affairs program.
John Ferri, Vice President, Current Affairs and Documentaries, said in a statement “The Agenda with Steve Paikin is a source for intelligent conversation and in-depth exploration of the big issues that affect us. More than ever, we need serious journalism to find our way and decode our complex world. TVO has to be where audiences are, and we’re excited to explore this opportunity with Twitter.”
Host of The Agenda, Steve Paikin, said he loves Twitter because it “truly allows me to be their instrument for getting answers from public officials,” in referring to tweets from his followers.
TVO says by teaming up with Twitter, they are able to deliver “smart content and conversation to engaged audiences, fulfilling its commitment to foster citizen engagement through high-quality journalism.”
