Twitter Canada Insights Show 59% Growth Around Sports Tweets in 2021, Ahead of Summer Olympics

Twitter Canada has released some interesting sports-centric insights in the lead-up to the Tokyo Olympic Games. So far, in 2021, Twitter Canada has seen a growth in conversations around sports and has recognized a positive enthusiasm for the Summer Olympics.

According to Twitter Canada, there has been a growth of 59 percent when it comes to conversations about sports on the social media platform between Canadians. The interest and broadening conversations as compared to the volume seen in 2020. Additionally, daily tweet volumes concerning the Tokyo Olympic Games have grown 60 percent in June 2021 when compared to May 2021. As the games are set to begin on July 23rd, this rise in conversation is likely to only increase from here.

Twitter Canada has seen a fairly substantial positive reception for the upcoming games. 60 percent of people on Twitter have said they are excited for the Olympics and plan to follow the games in real-time. According to Twitter Canada, this percentage is greater than other platforms such as Facebook, YouTube, and Snapchat.

The Olympic torch relay began on March 24th, 2021. With the Olympic Games steadily on the horizon, Twitter Canada has detailed which sports Canadians are talking about the most on the social media platform.
