Refresh To Apple’s iMac Lineup Is ‘Imminent’ [REPORT]

Mac users have received updates to their Macbook Air and Pros during June, but those who preferably enjoy desktop computing are likeliest to be eagerly waiting for an iMac update. We know an update is on tap, but we aren’t sure of when.

In an effort to provide some insight on the situation, Clayton Morris from FoxNews has posted a nice read on the upcoming iMac lineup refresh. The most interesting part comes when he says the release is “imminent.”

I’ve been hoping for an iMac update and it looks like my wish is about to come true! Multiple sources tell me that a new lineup of desktop machines from Apple is imminent.

A quick look around Amazon’s website shows dried up supplies for the 27-inch version. The popular MacRumors website looked at Apple store supplies and found dwindling availability as well, although 21-inch iMacs do appear to be widely available.

Everyone could have a separate definition for imminent, however this leads me to believe we could see a refresh of the iMac lineup sometime during September or October. Keep in mind that stock shortages of the 27-inch iMac have persisted for weeks, this can be quite unusual for Apple unless they are having issues with part suppliers.

The new iMac is plugged to have Retina Display, USB 3.0, larger SSDs, and a slim design. If you ask Instapaper creator Marco Arment about the refreshed iMacs, here is his response regarding Retina Display:

“I’ve now heard from multiple sources that while an iMac update is indeed coming this fall, it will not have Retina displays.”

The iPhone event is coming next Wednesday and I highly doubt Apple would unveil Macs at the event. We may have to wait for a separate event in October to see products such as the iPad Mini, iMac, iPod, etc.
