Musk Announces 10% Cut in Tesla’s Salaried Staff, Increase in Hourly Workers

In an email sent out to employees, Tesla CEO Elon Musk has announced the company will be laying off 10% of its salaried staff as the automaker has become “overstaffed in many areas,” Tesla North is reporting.

Titled ‘Headcount Reduction,’ the email notes that the move won’t affect those directly working on building cars, battery packs, or solar, and that hourly headcount will increase while salaried headcount decreases.

It must be pointed out that this trend is now pretty much standard for Tesla every year, as the company cut down nearly 9% of its employee base last year as well.

Last week, Musk also sent out an email banning remote work at Tesla, adding that employees who don’t like it can “pretend to work somewhere else.”

Apple, keep your eyes open.
Elon will be sending willing & able talent this direction with Tesla knowledge.
Treat them right, rub it in Elon’s face later when he struggles to fulfill orders as other employees see the greener grass on Apple’s side… if you make it so…

That depends on whether the staff being cut would be of any use to Apple and whether Apple will be immune to the recessionary headwinds that drove Tesla to do their layoffs.
