Tesla’s Model Y Gets High Praise from Engineering Guru Sandy Munro

Automotive industry veteran Sandy Munro from Munro and Associates has just got his hands on the Tesla Model Y Performance and it seems he’s quite pleased with it so far. “I don’t have much negative to say,” Munro said in an interview with Bloomberg. “It’s much better than the Model 3 when we got it.”

For those who aren’t familiar, Munro is a manufacturing consultant who’s been tearing cars apart piece-by-piece for three decades. His teardown consists of complete disassembly of the vehicle starting from the inside of the car.

Munro noted that his team did find some minor problems with the Model Y, although an average car buyer won’t even notice those things. He gave the five-passenger Model Y high marks for its cavernous cargo space.

Walking around his firm’s recently purchased Model Y, Munro used a small measuring stick to find inconsistent gaps between body panels and the hood of the vehicle. He found similar spaces between the tail lights and rear body parts.

“It will sell,” Munro said of the Model Y. “Tesla buyers will overlook everything and other buyers won’t see what we see.”

Munro plans to compare every bit and piece of Tesla’s new crossover SUV to the Model 3 to give us the most in-depth comparison very soon.
