“To learn more about how metrics and blood oxygen can be used to manage heart failure, we’re partnering with one of the largest research organizations in North America, the University Health Network and the investigators at the University of Toronto,” explained Apple’s VP of Health.

Apple further explained in its press release they “will work closely with investigators at the Ted Rogers Centre for Heart Research and the Peter Munk Cardiac Centre at the University Health Network, one of the largest health research organizations in North America, to better understand how blood oxygen measurements and other Apple Watch metrics can help with management of heart failure.”

Apple Watch Series 6 has a Blood Oxygen sensor that employs LEDs, combined with photodiodes on the back crystal of the wearable, to measure a user’s blood oxygen levels in 15 seconds.
