Apple Releases Two New Pride Edition Bands for Apple Watch [u]

Apple has announced the release of two new Pride bands for Apple Watch. Both the Sport Band and Nike Sport Band will be available in 40mm and 44mm sizes.

Starting today, two Pride-themed bands will be available on Apple’s website and select Apple Store locations. Apple has released specialized bands to support and celebrate the Pride season for the last few years. However, the company has worked with Nike to release its first Pride-themed band for the Apple Watch.

As a part of Apple’s press release, the company acknowledged the change of how Pride will be celebrated this year. Unfortunately, due to global circumstances, parades and mass celebrations are not tangible ways to support to LGBTQ community, so Pride is going virtual.

Apple and Nike are working alongside LGBTQ organizations such as GLSEN, PFLAG, The Trevor Project, Gender Spectrum, The National Center for Transgender Equality, and ILGA World. Together, they are working towards advocacy and global community-building initiatives.

Along with the release of the two Pride-themed bands, Apple will be releasing a Pride-themed Apple Watch face upon the launch of watchOS 6.2.5. Apple has not set a release date for the Apple Watch update, however, it is in its beta phase

Apple and Nike’s Pride-themed bands are available for $59.00 each in Canada (updated to reflect CAD pricing).
