But it does have a ton of video. Good for knowing whats going on in Toronto. But for other national and world news I still use other sources like the newly released CBC app.
Was waiting for this one for sometime. Also glad that Rogers didn’t limit it to their customers only like some of their apps. It is available to everyone regardless of carrier.
The CBC app is really nice. I’m surprised CityNews didn’t include other areas of the country in this app. It’s limiting to exclude the rest of the country. Oh well, Toronto is the centre of the universe anyways! :p
And dont forget it,we own Canada.
Well I thought that Rogers really burned CityNews to the ground with letting go many reporters and cutting newscasts. Maybe not by choice since the split from the Chum sale to CTV. But about a year later they got the weekend news back and now the app.
Hopefully they do bring this to Vancouver, Edmonton and Winnipeg.
But yea CityNews is still ‘rebuilding’ in my view so they start with Toronto for now.

Now if Rogers would make this App’s video streaming free to its Rogers Wireless data users, that would make it so much more useful. Come on, Rogers, a few crumbs of goodwill every once in awhile….

They don’t even do that for their own High Speed Internet customers who watch stuff on Rogers On-Demand Online…
True ’nuff – but if they did that, they could wave bye-bye to lots of subscribers of their over-priced cable service as people opted for the ‘free’ version on their computers.
That said, a short news piece (or broadcast) from their own TV station, as watched on the go on one’s Rogers-supplied iPhone is hardly going to impact their cable service – or strain their wireless service.
