App Store Hits 500,000 Apps

At the end of December 2010, a report from Asymco indicated that the App Store would hit 500,000 apps by mid-2011. At the time however, the App Store was on the verge of hitting 400,000 submitted iOS apps.

Fast forward to today and it would seem that report was accurate. Today, Apple has reportedly crossed the 500,000 approved apps milestone. This means that in the 34 months since the App Store opened, Apple now serves more than half a million apps.

As expected with most Apple milestones, an infographic is in order. Chillingo, an iOS developer, 148apps and Chomp have created an infographic about the app milestone. The graphic is loaded with information covering various timelines and popular applications. Check it out!
