Fido VoLTE in iOS 11 Not Working for Some iPhone Users

Fido users are noting online VoLTE (Voice over LTE) no longer works after updating their iPhones to iOS 11. iPhone in Canada reader Josh notes the issue is plaguing his iPhone and despite numerous troubleshooting steps, calls still take place over the 3G network on his smartphone.

He says the issue is present on iOS 11.0, iOS 11.0.1 and the latest iOS 11.0.2 update from yesterday. Resetting a phone to new does not fix the issue, neither does replacing a SIM card or resetting network settings.

Numerous users have also taken to the Fido Community online to voice their troubles with VoLTE and iOS 11. The issue is present in iPhone 6/6 Plus, iPhone 6s/6s Plus, iPhone 7/7s Plus and iPhone 8/8 Plus, so it appears a carrier update and or iOS update is needed to fix the issue.

Rogers only enabled VoLTE for iPhone 6/6 Plus users back in May with iOS 10.3.2, but first debuted VoLTE in 2015 for iPhone 6s and 6s Plus users.

How to find out if your iPhone can support VoLTE? Go to: Settings > Cellular > Cellular Data Options > Enable LTE. If Voice & Data is off, tap it to turn on VoLTE.

VoLTE allows LTE for both data and voice simultaneously, bringing wide band audio for better clarity, and faster call connections versus 3G.

Are you able to make calls over LTE with your iPhone on Fido in iOS 11?
