Rogers iPhone 4S Reservation Update: Emails Will Be Sent Out to Notify You

Share:

After hearing from you guys on twitter and email, it appears there was a lack of information regarding iPhone 4S reservations from Rogers. We sent out an email, and managed to get a response. On top of that, the Rogers Redboard was updated too.

Essentially Rogers has started to allocate stock to the Reservation System and orders are being fulfilled as units are received from Apple. When your iPhone 4S is ready to ship, Rogers will email you a tracking link, to follow your phone until it reaches your store. If you don’t receive an email, you’re still on the list.

They noted people should stay tuned to their email ‘starting early next week’.

What About iPhone 4S Stock at Rogers Stores?

Rogers says iPhone 4S stock at stores are not for the Reservations System list. However, people can just buy an iPhone 4S at a store, and then cancel their reservation and get refunded their $40 deposit.

So there you have it…you may or may not receive your iPhone 4S by tomorrow from Rogers if you’re on the Reservation System, as it’s based on the stock they have. But you can always head down to any store and wait in line.

What are you going to do? Wait, or head to a Rogers store tomorrow?

Yeah really what about bell. Preordered 16 gb on Friday and no word yet

  • Imrankha

Yeah really what about bell. Preordered 16 gb on Friday and no word yet

  • Dm100

Roger’s store in Surrey has stock of 30 iPhone 4S, of which only two are 16GB. Mainly 32gb and 64gb blacks.

  • Interesting, the store I went into today had a grand total of zero 64gb phones (in Toronto).

  • William

I pre-ordered from Bell on friday at 3AM. I just received an email from they about half hour ago. It has a canadapost tracking number. Soo check your email i guess.

  • Garrychnca

oh my god, so disappointed with rogers.

  • Rivix

What a stupid “reservation” system. But with everything Rogers, it needs to be stupid.

  • AccordXTC

Yep I got my e-mail from Rogers, saying you canceled your order. Yep thats right Robbers I woke up and saw how bad you were going to RAPE me. Dam at least take me out to dinner before you F*%^ me good.

  • Alexd

Per order from fido and nothing yet. 🙁 does fido works the same as Rogers??

  • Jarndt08

    Good ol Cartman!!

  • MS

Rogers is backwards as usual!  They should have been upfront with all the details.

  • VJR

its better buy unlocked version from Apple store

  • anybody knows why there is this $35 Hardware Upgrade Administration Fee on top of the 3 year plan upgrade price fo ROGERS???

  • anybody knows why there is this $35 Hardware Upgrade Administration Fee on top of the 3 year plan upgrade price fo ROGERS???

  • Garrychnca

because rogers just sucks with *administration fee

  • Anonymous

Umm $35 is the hardware upgrade fee. You may be able to get this fee waived but the call centre reps might not budge for the iPhone.

If you are upgrading early then you have to pay that fee which supposedly covers the cost of your previous device. The $35 is a separate fee. All carriers have a similar fee setup so no way around it sadly.

  • Anonymous

The registration system is really for those who can wait a week or more for their device instead of camping out for it

So it really isn’t stupid. It’s convenient!

Of course Apple’s pre-order system together with agreements with UPS and FedEx allows for first day shipments… Carriers aren’t as powerful as Apple is 😛

  • Melnick_dan

So I was 78th on the ROGERS wait list this morning. It finally changed the status to  “IN PROGRESS” around noon and stated that i would receive an e-mail. Still haven’t gotten one….. I think thats a little odd given that I was 78th in line. Any info on this? Am I probably still getting my iPhone tomorrow or am I getting shafted?

  • Alonso

I was on the reservation list. Called Best Buy and put my name on their list and have one ready for me at 8:00 am

  • Alonso

Most of the time, if you argue enough, will waive that fee

  • Anonymous

My guess is shafted. If you really want it then pack those bags and get out there camping tonight.

Otherwise expect to get yours next week at the store you selected. (Tip: No shipments on weekends)

  • Anonymous

Nice work! I haven’t heard of Best Buy holding phones. This is news

  • Melnick_dan

I was 78th on the ROGERS wait list  this morning. Finally had the stays updated to “IN PROGRESS” at noon. Still no e-mail. Odd given that I was originally 124th in line, ended up at 78th. Am I probably getting iPhone tomorrow or am i getting shafted?

  • Melnick_dan

Ya I was worried about that. dammit ! We’ll I work at 530 am so I’m just going to have to hope that it gets here. What a STUPID reservation system. How the hell was I  78th and am most likely NOT getting my phone tomorrow. Stayed up till 3am last friday for nothing.

  • Jamie

Anyone get a shipped confirmation from Telus? I was told I’d receive one today, but didn’t.

  • Anonymous

Well it was never meant to be a first day sales system. Which many people thought that’s what it was.

Camping is still the for sure way to get it tomorrow… But if your 78th then you will get it next week. I’m sure you can wait and extra 3 or 4 days

  • Pat

No, I’ve been waiting as well. What’s up with that?!?

  • I reserved, but will be cancelling my reservation. I’m only on month 15 of my contract, so they want to charge me a $320 hardware upgrade premium, plus the price of the phone (a quoted $319 for a 32GB), plus the phoney bologna $35 admin fee. That’s $674 vs $749 for an unlocked one from Apple. So I called them, got passed onto the Customer Relations Department, and tried to get the $320 reduced. I’ve been a customer for years, pay almost $100 each month for my bill, and am never late.

As the Customer Relations Rep explained to me, the only thing that matters in that scenario  is that I’ve only had my _current_ contract for 15 months. Apparently Rogers finds “other” ways to thank me for my 4 previous years with them. I can’t imagine what that would be, and the CRR couldn’t explain it either, but she assured me that I was being well thanked.

She further went on to explain that since I hadn’t paid my iPhone 4 off yet by putting in at least 30 months on this contract, that it was only fair that I compensate them by paying them the $320 fee. I told her that I’d be happy to lock in for another three years for a reduction in the fee, but she wouldn’t budge. I ended up telling her that I’d happily pay an extra $75 for an unlocked phone from Apple, and that once my contract was done, I’d assess which company I’d rather be with. She seemed unconcerned.

My guess is that Rogers assumes that the iPhone 4S is going to be popular, and that they’ve instructed their people not to give any special deals on them. So be it. They’re not the only game in town, and once I’m into the cycle of buying phones outright and selling them when the newer models come out, I won’t need to lock into any 3-year terms to get subsidized phones. If they’re willing to risk the thousands my future business could bring on a $320 upgrade premium, I don’t want to be with a telecom company that short-sighted anyway.

So long, Rogers. Enjoy the remaining money you’ll get out of my current contract, because it’s the last you’ll ever see from me.

  • Jamie

Okay, as long as I’m not the only one. I called telus and he said when it ships I’ll get an email and maybe I didn’t make the first wave despite they told me I would

  • Bug No.1

I reserved from Fido. Made 2 follow up calls to “Customer Service”. What a joke! How do these reps sleep at night knowing that they can be replaced by a flat HTML? That’s beyond me! If I worked for Fido, I would beg, borrow and/or steal to get more info! @Fido reps–show some pride in your purpose–get the info or complain to higher ups! Customers, that you supposedly employed to “serve”, want to be in the know! Why is this a mystery to you? This is not the first year that you are absolutely clueless about what’s going to happen. You have more questions than we, the people who pay your salaries and those of your corporate buyers. And spare me the 3rd party deflection–get the damn info!!! You just lost my purchase since I decided to buy unlocked, directly from Apple… How is this good for you when I will not be locked in for another 3 years? There, I am breaking the cycle this year–in your face!

  • Alonso

Ya most were reserved for telus and bell. That store was only holding 7 for rogers/fido. I got lucky
I would suggest everyone do the same

  • Alonso

Plus instead of rogers $40 reservation fee, best buy charged me $50. But to guarantee it is all I cared about. I just have to be there between 8 and 10 am. After that, they are free to the public. I would just go to a best buy right before that and take your chance

  • Fahad

SOME OF YOU GUYS ARE CRAZY

If you guys were smart, you would have read the posts on iphoneincanada and read the BEST BUY PREORDER POST

i preordered from Rogers and Cancelled that shit since they didn’t give a definite receive date for the phone even though I was 59th in line l O L

anyways the reason i cancelled it is cuz i simply walked into my local bestbuy store, told then i wanted to preorder, they told me to be there before 10AM fri, and that was it, no B-S no Hassle, (ps. this was done on thurs the 13th at 7:00pm) FUCK ROGERS.

  • Stephen

i am number 541 and have OPEN as my status…does  this mean 541 in canada  or bc or the store?
Will I get it on the 14th?
If not what was the point of reserving?

  • STOPWHINING

IF YOU REALLY WANT THE LATEST TECH, GO BUY IT, FULL PRICE. You don’t want to pay full price, then sign a contract to get it cheaper. You sign a 3 year contract to get the phone discounted, and then expect that 12 months later your gonna get a discount again. These companies are here to MAKE MONEY, not give shit to whining babies.

YOU WANT YOUR PHONE ON DAY ONE? LINE UP AT AN APPLE STORE AND QUIT COMPLAINING.

YOU PEOPLE EXPECT THESE COMPANIES TO BEND OVER BACKWARDS TO “KEEP YOUR BUSINESS” BUT IT’S NOT WORTH IT WHEN YOU DEMAND $700 HANDSETS EVERY YEAR.

GO TO THE APPLE STORE, PAY FULL PRICE, BUT AT THE END OF THE DAY YOU NEED TO GO TO ONE OF THESE COMPANIES FOR SERVICE, AND THE SMALLER COMPANIES HAVE SHITTY COVERAGE.

  • Melnick_dan

But when you have been waiting for THIS long and were expecting it tomorrow it just sucks. While it’s not technically a first day sales system, at 78th I would have expected to get it tomorrow. It is a “line” after all. So even though I haven’t ever really had a problem with Rogers, they’re not getting a free pass on this one from me.

  • Melnick_dan

It means that the phone hasn’t even shipped yet (according to what the Rogers website says) Once it hits “IN PROGRESS” it has started movement of some sorts. Eventually you should get an e-mail with a tracking number that you can use to figure out its location. My status has been in progress since noon, I was 78th on the wait list (no not 178, 78) and I STILL haven’t gotten an e-mail and am most likely screwed for tomorrow.

  • Get Real

I want my phone on day 1 because that’s what was implied would happen. I didn’t stay up till 3 am last friday to get the 78th position for nothing. Had they been honest and said it wasn’t going to arrive on friday as implied I would have made arrangements to get in line. Too late now though as I have work at 530 am. Not willing to lose MORE money because of this phone.

Also:  Since when do these companies bend over backwards to anyone? All they have done is try to ensure their dominance in the Canadian market by blocking WIND mobile etc and keeping the competition that would force prices down out.

They charge us “upgrade administration fees” and activation fees when the number is the same. What a joke.

  • STOPWHINING

if you read it properly, no where did it state that you were going to be getting it the first day, it was clearly stated that these devices would be shipped to a store of your choice, however those who decide to wait in line have a chance of getting devices before you.

  • Kellie Inkster

For what it’s worth I’m 9…yes 9 in my line and see the same thing…”in process”

  • Guest

Rogers are you serious? At least give us some information. If you are having a delay or whatever the issue is. I get it there’s a high demand for the iPhone but at least give us information like ****. Your FAQ does not help at all. Need more specific details. Also, inform your customer service reps what is going on. I mean that’s supposed to be your team. Show a lot of poor management there. There will be a lot MORE of unhappy customers tomorrow. This is getting ridiculous. I seriously am regretting I pre-ordered with you guys.

  • Get Real.

I did read that. But like I said, it was implied that if you had ordered it it would be there. I’m not suggesting that all the orders should be there seeing as how they had over 1 million preorders but the people who were first on the list should have a bit of priority that’s all. For example, I’m sure there is enough stock to get one to me, being within the first 100 people. But that doesn’t look like it’s going to happen. You don’t think Rogers dropped the ball on that one? And this is coming from someone who has never had a major issue with the company. In fact I’ve always enjoyed their services, for the most part.

  • Omar

Yeah I will also be cancelling my reservation. This is a joke. For starters the early upgrade fees are a bit on the high end. Then you have the $35 admin fee, plus you still have that stupid mail in rebate that you have to send in. Sure you get the money back but 6-8 weeks later, if you remember to mail it out. On top of that the reservation isn’t even for release day! Even Futureshop and best buy have their pre-orders ready on launch day. This is just sad. Im better off selling my 32GB iP4 on kijiji and paying a little bit more for an unlocked one from the apple store.

  • Vteste

I’m number 2 and it says in progress

  • Garrychnca

ok so finally I just got my notification email from rogers.

  • Mortys11

My 64gb white will be ready for pick up by end of day today.

I am shocked Rogers pulled this off.

  • Garrychnca

hmm, so your email did mention when you can go and pick it? because mine just has a tracking number and I track it and see that the iPhone lest Vaughan at 20:19 last night

  • Gruven

Just received my confirmation email from Rogers with tracking number. Was processed yesterday Oct 13 leaving concord on targeted to arrive at my store by eod today.

  • Got mine this morning. Pickup by end of day. Need to talk to Retension about the plan. I am upgrading from a 3G so I am free to move companies. I would like them to match the Telus plan at least.

  • AN

Just got my ship notification. UPS tracking says it should arrive today!

  • Rivix

Where on the email/tracking info does it say the delivery estimate?

  • Markus_maximus

    Same…

  • Markus_maximus

    UPS site.

  • 1234

What is the point of a reservation system when I can walk in to the same store I “reserved my phone at” and get the phone at 9am today – but my “reserved phone” still hasn’t shipped!!!

  • Rivix

Anyone from Calgary get one delivered yet? Mine is still shipping. It left last night. Do they even use planes?!

  • Guest

Still In Progress. No e-mail. I live in Toronto and tried calling my store, no answer.

  • Anonymous

Actually in the rogers service text message I got it said that by reserving using their system I would be ensuring that I got a device as soon as they became available. I realize that can be interpreted as “as soon as we have some lying around” but that wasn’t what was implied. Anyways I’m switching over to Telus at this point I think since it looks like i can save about 20$ a month there. I have a 3G so my contract is up anyways

  • Anonymous

I’m moving to Telus because of this whole debacle, I’ll see you there in a couple years

  • Poochi

This is the issue, Rogers knows that they have pissed off a lot of customers but MAJORITY of the people they pissed off, including you, are happily staying until the contract ends before making the next move.

Consumers have short-term memory, I have doubts that you will remember what happened today when your contract actually comes due for renewal.

Are you really going to do what you said, leave for some other telecom, or are you going to be sway to stay for another 3 years with Rogers if they offer something BETTER than other carriers when, us, the iPhone 4 early adopters are ready to make the next move?

Think about it.  If most people would take the bait again, Rogers has made the right business decision today.

  • Anonymous

I had a feeling Rogers would screw this up too. The expectation of a reservation is to have one on hold for you as its released. Its like reserving a table at a restaurant and when you get there, being told you have to wait till all these people in line are first.  It seems after making a few phone calls, its whenever they have some iPhones left. When I pre-ordered, I was at 316 then jumped to 145. But now I have no idea with this “In progress” BS. It seems like its a big free for all now. Reading some posts, people later in line are already getting emails.

Truth be told, I would love to leave Rogers but no one else can offer the same plan I have. Rogers even pulled the plan after a couple of months because it was too good. Gotta pay the price for good service I guess.

  • Trissa

You are silly. Rogers is right on in this case. You just got an iPhone 4, for cheaper price.. And you are trying to scam the company to get a phone that is only a little better.. Can you seriously not wait a few months for an iPhone 5?
I have an iPhone 3GS, that is why I’m upgrading.

  • Trissa

LOL good luck to you. Everyone knows telus is the worst company.

  • Trissa

If you guys do not like the reservation system, do the rest of us a favour and cancel, so we can get out phones faster:

  • I “reserved” a phone with Fido, because I wanted to use the $385 Fido Dollars I had in my account for the 64GB white iPhone. My order has shown an “IN PROCESS” for six days – meaning I can’t cancel it online and it hasn’t shipped yet. I wasn’t expecting my phone on launch day (I read the FAQ on the Fido , but I expected it at least SHIP by launch day.

I ended up walking into the Toronto Yonge & Dundas Future Shop on the evening of launch day. They had no lineups and SEVERAL iPhones left in stock, including the exact model I was looking for (the last one). They got me setup on Fido, and applied my Fido Dollars to the purchase price. I walked out of there 5 minutes after I walked in, having only paid about $15 for the 64GB white iPhone. I’ll be cancelling my reservation with Fido as soon as I have a chance as it was a waste of my time, and $40 reservation fee.

The reservation system is a bad joke, and Rogers/Fido’s handling of this situation has been abysmal. Poor logistics, poor customer service, poor communications. Everywhere else, a “reservation” or a pre-order means you get it first. Only at Rogers/Fido does it mean that the people who didn’t bother to reserve get it first, and the people who took the time to make a reservation (usually the most tech savvy, most loyal customers) get their product “eventually”.

  • Ripatcha

Hey folks, how ’bout some updates here?  Anyone else doing the slow-wait with gnashing teeth over the Rogers “reservation system”?

  • rivix

I just want to say this reservation experience has been shit.
My device was shipped, I had a UPS tracking number, and it was delivered today. Went into the store to pick it up like my email from rogers said to do and they didn’t have it. Apparently the device was delivered from one warehouse, to another regional warehouse. They told me i will get a phone call when they actually have it in store. WHY DO I WANT A UPS TRACKING NUMBER FROM WAREHOUSE TO WAREHOUSE?Has this happened to anyone else?

  • Anish

EXACT SAME THING HAPPENED TO ME!!!!!! they said it will take another 3-5 business days (yesterday). honestly this reservations system sucks I’m just going to pick one up from apple instead. ugh

  • rivix

I want to get one from Apple as well, and activate it with Bell/Telus.

  • Kellie Inkster

For what it’s worth, I received mine yesterday and the reservation system still hadn’t updated to take me off the waiting list. It still saying that I’m 9th in line.So who knows how many more there are in front of people who haven’t been updated who had received their phones. You could be 100 in line with no movement, but it wouldn’t matter because maybe 99 in front have already gotten theirs and the system just hasn’t been updated. PS. I’m in love.

  • Bucketshop

Rogers has a 4-step complaint system which takes some tine to get through but it does work. Unfortunately you need leverage. My wife got a Nokia X7 a few weeks ago–nice phone but bad smartphone, browsing slow, apps limited. She was over by 13 mins of usage and the store wouldn’t refund it. Step 1 email customer service and outline your case and request that you be referred to a manager. Step 2 once the manager turns down the request email the president’s office. The tone I used was one of polite firmness. At this stage we were able to exchange the phone. If you have other services with Rogers they are more apt to listen.

  • Tugruler

to everyone trying to get iphone 4s through fido
i got it without reservation without going to the fido store i just told them i cant deal with that bs just ship it to my addres.
they told me it would take two to four weeks, i said fine. and next day the phone was delivered to my door.
so stop wasting your money and time trying to hunt the phone. just have it delivered
    good luck to all

  • Stickboy

My phone was shipped last week and I have a ups confirmation that it was delivered and signed for  4 days ago  at the store down the street but they still won’t give me my phone, probably sold it to a new customer

  • Stickboy

My phone was shipped last week and I have a ups confirmation that it was delivered and signed for  4 days ago  at the store down the street but they still won’t give me my phone, probably sold it to a new customer

  • Sabrina

Reserved my phone 2 weeks ago and my number hasn’t changed from the Rogers Reservation list.  #358. This is an epic fail. It should not be that hard to purchase a freaking phone. Rogers you suck. Your agents are complete idiots, your retail service associates are rude, unprofessional and morons…clearly lack any experience with technology. The $35.00 admin. fee with ridiculous and you should be able to wave that for customers who haven’t upgraded their phone in a WHILE. Rogers lacks the ability to hold on to their valued customers that have kept them in business for this long.
