A fantastic iPhone app that people are using to listen to radio stations is called Tuner. It’s available for purchase in the App Store. But what about us Canadians that want to listen to some local streaming radio for free? Well, I got a great tip from my friend Darryn on how to stream free Astral Media radio stations on your iPhone.
Turns out Astral Media has an iPhone friendly website that will let you listen to live radio. You can also check out recently played songs, visit the station’s website, plus a help section is there too!
I tested this out by listening to Crave 95.3 and it sounds great. There is a play button that will launch the Quicktime player and you’re off to some fun times listening to the radio! It sounded great but keep in mind that this will eat up your data if you use it too much. But if you’re using WiFi, the only thing stopping you from listening too long is the iPhone 3G’s dismal battery life! Here are some screenshots:

Ohh Me likie! Though there is no list of local radio station for NL! AND we have at least 6 that I can think of, in my vicinity.

anyone able to get this to work on the new version of Ipod Touch? just gives me a “movie in an incompatible format message”
I had the download plugin installed…the streaming didn’t work (‘movie can not be loaded’). I wanted to try it so i uninstalled the plugin, rebooted and it still does not work. I get a “movie format is not supported” message.
I tried to contact astral radio webmaster and they dont respond im dissapointed
good news. It seems that Astral media has fixed the problem just in time to listen to the leadership debate works fine now on the G2 ipod touch
To listen to CFOX (Vancouver) on the iPhone, use the Corus Radio App! Free!! Works great! Listen to all the other Canadian Corus stations too!
It seems this app loads great but then after 5 minutes it goes back to the original webpage to start the streaming over. I turned off my Itouch's preference for screen saver, but still happens. Only thing that seems to work is to slide the qtime movie play slider to the middle – but this is hit and miss? Anyone else have this problem and the work around for it?

I read everywhere that an astral app is on the way but it does not look like it is out yet, why would they take this site offline before it is ready?!?
