Apple Announces iPad Pro Launch Nov. 11 Online, Starts at $1049 CAD

Apple has announced today iPad Pro sales will be available online on Wednesday, November 11, while the tablet will hit Apple Stores, select carriers and authorized resellers later this week. Accessories Apple Pencil and the new Smart Keyboard will also be available on Wednesday.

Philip Schiller, Apple’s senior vice president of Worldwide Marketing, said in a statement “The early response to iPad Pro from app developers and our customers has been incredible, and we’re excited to get iPad Pro into the hands of customers around the world this week.”

Canadian pricing for iPad Pro has been announced and is priced as follows (available in Space Grey, Gold, Silver):

  • $1049 ($799 US) for the 32GB with Wi-Fi model
  • $1249 ($949 US) for the 128GB Wi-Fi model
  • $1429 ($1079 US) for the Wi-Fi + Cellular 128GB model
  • Apple Pencil will be available for $129 (CAD)
  • Smart Keyboard (US English layout) will be available in charcoal grey for $229 (CAD)
  • iPad Pro Smart Covers will be available for $75 (CAD) in charcoal grey and white.
  • iPad Pro Silicone Cases will be available for $99 (CAD) in charcoal grey and white.

The Canadian dollar is not helping local pricing here for iPad Pro, with Apple using an exchange rate of about 31%, which is actually better than what we suspected given the 34% rate used on the recent launch of the new Apple TV.

Update: added Canadian pricing for the 128GB Wi-Fi model.

Alongside Canada, iPad Pro will also launch in Anguilla, Antigua and Barbuda, Australia, Austria, Belgium, Cayman Islands, China, Czech Republic, Denmark, El Salvador, Finland, France, Germany, Gibraltar, Greenland, Guatemala, Hong Kong, Hungary, Ireland, Isle of Man, Italy, Japan, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg, Malaysia, Mexico, Monaco, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Puerto Rico, Russia, Singapore, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Thailand, Trinidad and Tobago, Turkey, UAE, US, UK, Uruguay and US Virgin Islands.

Who’s ready to pull the trigger on Wednesday?

  • Paul Kaliciak

No price for the 128Gb Wi-Fi only? Based on the other two models it looks like it will be $1249. These prices are a full 30% more than the U.S. prices, even though, for example, the Air 2 prices are only about 10% higher in Canada.

  • Johnny S.

Oh boy, those prices. $99 for a Silicone case!? boy I miss those days when a leather case costs less than that.

Let’s hope they at least offer education discount on these iPads.

  • I’m not surprise…. because all new products (new iMac, Macbook, iPhone and now the iPad Pro) released with a 30% difference because of the exchange rate. Older products like iPad Air 2, since was release last year, didn’t get that raise yet….
I missed when our $ was very close the US$….

  • Updated the article to add 128GB Wi-Fi pricing, as revealed by Apple in an email.

Is the preorder gonna start at 12AM PST?

  • No confirmation, but most likely given recent launches online.

  • Andrew Robulack

I’m certainly going to play it safe and camp out on the Store app at midnight.

  • Darrin

Remember preorder for iPad Air 2 didn’t start til early morning on the preorder date. Not right at midnight. It’s a softer launch. Is anyone able to confirm with ? retail stores if they’ll be available on Friday in person?

  • And also just to remember the Apple TV launch… wasn’t at Midnight / 3AM either…

  • Darrin

Exactly. Softer rollouts. The iPhone launch is an Oscar production

  • Michel Plante

Pathetic price but I’ll passed on it sorry ????

  • Tim

I have a regular iPad and I think the home screen already makes terrible use of the space. There is nothing “pro” about iOS. I’m sure this thing will have some great usage cases, but it would make a lot more sense if the OS took better advantage of its large form factor.

Does anyone know what time they will start sellng?
