This iPhone 5 Concept Design Will Blow Your Mind

What will the iPhone 5 look like? We reported rumours of a September 9th launch date, production to start in August, and details of a cheaper, unlocked model.

But in terms of design, we haven’t seen any breathtaking concepts–until now. Check out the following iPhone 5 concept by Poland-based industrial designer, Michal Bonikowski. It incorporates the existing glass front and stainless steel band design, with a curved aluminum back taking cues from the original iPad. Sexy. Time.

What do you think of this iPhone 5 concept? Yay or nay?

Will they also release a magnetic foldable cover to come with it?

Will they also release a magnetic foldable cover to come with it?

  • Now that would be awesome. The iPhone Smart Cover.

  • I do kinda like it.. it’s a bit sexy.

  • Would it come off too easily when you slide it in and out of your pocket?

  • Thelilgay

    Nay.

  • Dan

No front facing flash? Hard to tell / see from pictures.

  • Thebombmp

Looks just like all the other iPhone 3g(s) apple gotta change it up a bit while the look is minimalist and simple just like the OS

  • Definitely “yay.” If this is how it turns out, I’m quite sure all the “Nay-sayers” would have a change of heart.

  • Don

    Definitely NAY!!!

  • Invx

    I kinda like it.
And I didn’t like the look of the iPhone 4 at first, but now I love it’s style…

  • Tommy

Nay, iPhone 4 looks 10 times better.

  • I prefer the individual volume buttons, but other than that it’s not too bad.

  • Jeff_u

    Nope

nay. I don’t understand why the earpiece is so wide, just because the screen is wider doesnt mean that has to change too. also with a button for the mute switch, it’s going to be accidentally pressed in pockets all the time

lastly, i dont see what was wrong with a flat back

nay but there still one question in
    mind will it blend?

Sexy. Looks very thing on the sides. I prefer the curved back of my 3gs to the 4 already.

hope the final product wont have a curved back and aluminum backing…that’s just my opinion

  • Mdoering

I like it more than the 4. I have the 3GS still & will skip the 4 in favor of waiting for the 5. It appears thinner & yes, sleek & sexy!

  • Yay!… Anything is better that the stupid glass back of the iP4. Come-on… glass? Why design a phone that practically HAS to be enveloped in a case? NEXT!

  • I have first hand experience in having my back glass smashed from a drop.
    It’s not fun.

  • However, I don’t think its possible to cram all the guts of an iPhone into this design. Perhaps an iPod Touch instead

  • Anonymous

Totally agree with you. Personally I like 4’s design more than any other phone, including 3, 3Gs, and the concept. I will keep my 4 as long as I can. Besides, many people already have problem picking up the 4 from a flat surface without a case, what’s gonna happen to this thinner concept when you put it facing down without a case?

Nay, the iPhone 4 design is much better, and I believe apple will keep the iPhone 4 design for atleast one more gen.

    That looks pretty nice.
And no glass on the back is even better.

  • Anonymous

i like the flat back of the current iPhone.

  • Anonymous

of course you’re going to say that to justify the fact that you don’t have a 4… haha jk jk… kinda

  • Anonymous

Not sure I have ever once accidentally hit the volume buttons. but i agree with a switch instead… though thats the only bloody piece on my 4 that gets dirty.

  • Anonymous

ya! a tiny little smart cover… wait… nevermind too much work.

  • Anonymous

I think Apple almost assumes you will end up putting a case on your phone. If you dont have a case then you could care less about protecting your investment.

  • Anonymous

haha na. I much prefer the front of the 4 to the 3gs. This has the best of both to me. In any case, small point in the grand scheme

  • I’m sure the price would be something crazy like $49.99. But I’d still buy it–FML.

  • It’s alright: I can already feel the luxuriousness of it.
But I’m torn between this design as well:

    Great work
First time I like a design with a big screen

  • Gary

loving this, hope it’s the one for the new iPhone .. i don’t know why these idiots don’t like this design

  • Men_na00

Larger screen is a must for the next iphone!!, I do like the current shape but need something like a metal look on the back side… Hope they also improse the basic phone functionality (high call volume)….

  • Anonymous

Nay. Unless black anodized is an option and the antenna issues are solved…

  • Anonymous

Yayy!! Love it. Thinner is better. Just like the ipad 2.

  • Luca

This is the nicest one so far

Nay for me… I like the glass back of my iPhone 4. But then I think must people who got use to the ip4 will agree with me unlikely people who still have the 3Gs. I don’t expect much change in exterior but interior for sure. That’s a given.

  • MrAnonymous

That would be a big-ass NAY!  As mentioned, current iPhone design is 10x better, with the flat backing and chick looking glass.  A curved back would wreak havok with cases and protective films like the invisible shield.

  • Donpafka

I think it’s a  good chance to be like this one. Couple reasons, first the iPhone 5 can’t look as an iPod as it must look much more solid, smarter and sharper. Also if you can’t really distinguish between them it looses “image” and product identity value etc. I think I will bet on this one or at least similar idea instead of curved edges…

  • spokster

i dont like the camera design. And going back to the curved side? N A Y
