Apple Seeds iOS 4.3 Beta 1 To Developers

Share:

Today, Apple seeded the first beta release (8F5148b) of iOS 4.3 for iPhone 3GS/4, iPad, and iPod touch 3rd/4th generation. As many know, iOS 4.3 is the anticipated release of the next iOS firmware rumored to be due in March 2011.

iOS 4.3 is also expected to bring “Personal Hotspot” to the iPhone, as we saw on the Verizon iPhone 4 with iOS 4.2.5.

So far, there have been some minor changes in iOS 4.3. Those changes are listed below:

  • Four or five finger pinch for the Home Screen (iPad)
  • Swipe up for Multitasking (iPad)
  • Swipe left/right to cycle through apps (iPad)
  • Settings toggle for silent/orientation lock (iPad)
  • New Fonts (iPad)
  • New SMS alert intervals (iPhone)
  • Personal Hotspot for iPhone (iPhone 4)
  • New FaceTime icon for iPod touch (fourth-generation iPod touch)

We will update this as the story develops.

So, if the “Personal Hotspot” option is replacing the “Internet Tethering” option under Settings -> General -> Network, can we assume everyone having tethering is getting this? Wouldn’t blocking this be like removing an option?

I know a lot of iPaddies who will be glad to get their orientation lock back to the side switch.

Maybe it’ll be jailbroken by next christmas!

Good point. If we get it free in Canada does that mean the hotspot will be free? They can’t take out a feature and then charge us for it. This will be interesting.
