Apple: iTunes Match to Launch in Canada Shortly After US Debut

Our previous post referred to Tim Cook answering emails from customers just like Steve Jobs used to do. iPhoneinCanada.ca reader Sheldon did just that, and sent the following email to Tim Cook:

Greetings from Toronto!

Tim,

I’m curious to know if there have been any significant developments regarding iTunes Match for the Canadian market.

Thanks!

Sheldon

Rather than Tim Cook responding, Eddy Cue, Apple’s VP of Internet Services responded with the following, confirming iTunes Match will launch in Canada shortly after the US debut:

Hi Sheldon,

We’re working on adding Canada and hope to do so shortly after the US launch.

Eddy

iTunes Match was announced at this year’s WWDC by Steve Jobs. iTunes Match Beta was recently launched in limited capacity for testing by U.S. developers. Streaming of songs from an iOS device was demonstrated by InsanelyGreatMac, although more is still yet to be known about this feature. For $25 annually, users will be able to have up to 25,000 songs from their MP3 library ‘matched’ by iTunes Match:
