First Look: This is Wealthsimple’s New App and Trading Interface

Wealthsimple is rebuilding its iOS and Android apps for early 2027, with a new trading interface that lets users swipe up to confirm a trade. The company announced the rebuilt apps at Wealthsimple Presents today, and designer Thiago Costa has shared a closer look.
Costa is a Brazilian product designer known for his minimalist approach. He co-founded investment research platform Fey.com, which Wealthsimple acquired in 2025, as well as design studio Narative.
“So excited we can finally start talking about what we’ve been building! Lots more to share,” Costa wrote, before sharing short demo clips. The preview focuses on the trading interface within the wider Wealthsimple app redesign.
Asked whether the work runs on UIKit or SwiftUI, Costa answered plainly: “UIKit,” and said a teammate (@tjruss) might share more about the tech soon. UIKit is Apple’s framework for building app interfaces. Wealthsimple has also been expanding its pro trading tools with Trade Plus.
Costa said the order flow was “reworked completely from scratch.” The Wealthsimple Presents demo showed users swiping up to confirm a trade in the new interface. When a follower worried that a swipe-up confirm could clash with iPhone app switching and trigger an accidental order, Costa replied, “I got you 🙂 no accidental orders here!” and attached a short demo clip. He did not spell out the safeguard in text beyond that assurance, and he later added that “loooots of thought went into our new gestures.”
The rebuilt iOS and Android apps are coming in early 2027, as announced at Wealthsimple Presents. Costa also confirmed iPhone Duo optimization, though he didn’t say whether it would be ready at launch.
Whether clients will install a separate app or simply update the existing Wealthsimple app remains open. Asked directly if it would be a new install or an update, Costa said only, “We’ll share more info soon!”
Pressed for more Home Screen widgets, he teased, “Just wait,” without naming any specific widgets or a timeline.
The tease landed the same day as Wealthsimple’s broader product push, including Penny AI. The rebuilt apps are slated to arrive in early 2027.
