Meta’s Muse Gets Real-Time Voice and Expressive Avatars, Not in Canada Yet
Meta is giving Muse a real voice, and an avatar that reacts while you talk. The company said Thursday it is rolling out real-time voice conversations and expressive avatars in the Muse app on mobile, web and Mac, after previewing the feature at Connect 2026.The company said today this is a more natural way to work with Muse: tap the phone icon in the top-right corner and start talking. Canadians should note the catch right away. The rollout starts in the United States, and Muse itself still is not listed on Canada’s App Store. That matches Meta’s pattern with the agent: Meta AI is already here, Muse is not.
Meta’s standalone Meta AI app launched in Canada with voice chat and Ray-Ban Meta glasses handoff. Muse is the more agentic product Meta has been building on top of its Muse Spark model stack, and today’s voice update lands there first.
Talk it through out loud
Meta’s pitch is that some ideas are easier when you speak them. You can brainstorm, plan a trip, or rehearse a job interview or pitch out loud while Muse follows along. The company says Muse can keep working in the background as you talk, whether you are on a walk, making dinner or otherwise hands-full.
That hands-free angle also points ahead. Meta says voice conversations with Muse are coming soon to AI Glasses and Muse Charm, after it has already pushed Muse Spark-powered assistants into its Meta Glasses lineup sold in Canada.
An avatar that reacts in real time
Alongside voice, Muse gets an expressive avatar powered by what Meta calls Muse Realtime Avatar and Muse Realtime Voice technology. As Muse listens and speaks, the avatar uses subtle expressions and gestures that match the tone of the conversation, so you can tell it is following along.
You choose how present that avatar is:
- Voice only if you just want to talk
- Avatar beside the chat for a lighter visual presence
- Full screen when you want a face-to-face style conversation
Meta says there are hundreds of voices to pick from, from the energy of a New Yorker to the flair of a pirate, and you can change the style whenever you want. Conversations are meant to feel fluid: you hear replies right away, and you can interrupt Muse mid-response the way you would with a person.
Availability: US first
Voice and expressive avatars are rolling out now in the Muse app in the US to start. Meta did not give a Canadian date for Muse itself, or for this voice layer. Until Muse shows up in Canada’s App Store, the practical path for people here remains Meta AI on iPhone, the web, and AI glasses where those features are already supported.
If you already use Muse in the US, look for the phone icon in the Muse app on iPhone, the web or Mac to try a voice session. Everyone else is waiting on Meta to open the door north of the border.
SpaceXAI’s Grok Bot also gained a voice mode recently, which allows users to talk to the AI agent to get things done, even while you’re driving through Apple CarPlay.

That’s odd because I have Muse on my phone and I’m in Canada
