Netflix Announces Expanded UFC Content to Canadian Library

For all the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) fans out there, you’ll be pleased to know Netflix has announced an expansion of content to its Canadian library. Recent and classic UFC events, highlights series, and the reality show “The Ultimate Fighter” will be available along with fights featuring Georges St-Pierre, Anderson Silva, Jon Jones and Canadians Mark Hominick, Rory MacDonald and Sam Stout, amongst many others.

There’s also a bunch of compilation series available, such as UFC Best Of, Ultimate KO, 100 Greatest Moments, and Ultimate Heavyweights as well as the documentary Bad Blood. Canada is one of the largest fan bases for the UFC:

“Canada has a long tradition of support for MMA and we’ve been working with the UFC for some time to bring their world leading premium content to Netflix,” said Jason Ropell, Netflix Vice President of Content Acquisition. “We’re thrilled to be able to give Canadian members a much deeper offering of UFC content ranging from classic fights, and popular compilations, to recent events, some as recent as 90 days following their PPV airing.”

Events hitting Netflix as soon as 90 days after airing on PPV? That’s a pretty decent job by Netflix and the UFC. In the past couple of months, the Canadian Netflix library has definitely improved, compared to when it first launched. There’s nothing better in my opinion than vegging out on the iPad watching Netflix on rainy days. A recent CBC survey noted 1 in 10 Canadians are now subscribed to the streaming service.
