Sources: iPhone 4 Release Date in Canada on July 23rd

Update 1: Just had an email from a Bell source–July 23rd date mentioned again.

In their latest PR release about iPhone 4 sales, Apple once again confirmed the iPhone 4 will be launched in Canada “by the end of July”. We have received two separate emails that provide specific information to corroborate a pending July 23rd launch.

According to our tipster, with close ties to an Apple Store, here are some vague details “CS” was able to provide:

Word around the store is a July 23rd launch for the iPhone 4.
Employees have been asked to start shifts at 7:00AM on that day.
No one is allowed to book time off on that day.

The above details are identical to what was provided regarding the iPad’s rumoured April 24th launch in Canada–until it was delayed by Apple.

Earlier today, another story popped up online with a similar date (their source was from a major carrier, not an Apple Store), but of course we have to always take these rumours with a grain of salt. We previously predicted July 23rd or July 30th, the last two Fridays of the month. Right now, the former is looking to be the best bet for the iPhone 4 launch in Canada.

All we can do now is wait. Rest assured that as we inch closer into July, the iPhone 4 launch date will soon by announced by Rogers, Bell, and Telus on the same day (they like to do things in tandem).

Have you folks seen the iPhone 4 Forums? Complaint after complaint after complaint…….Im praying all these get solved before they allow Apple Canada to sell. I am willing to wait even till August/Sept if it means only good ones are allowed to be sold.

Question…My contract with fido ends a the end of the month so i call them claiming the bell ad better pricing for me (NOT) so fido rep poled out the big guns (I think)here's what I got 200 day mins unlimited weekend's and week night's after 5pm unlimited text pics and videos sending caller id and message center for 50.50 so question is can apple store quy honour this or will I have to go throw fido call center?
I surly don't want to wait in line for nothing

July 23 I am stuck in Collingwood for a work course-it ends july 23 so i can probably skip out early and hit a rogers store on the way to Toronto- i wonder how many phones per store. don't think ill get to an apple store unless i leave at like 2am lol

I have heard that to get an unlocked iphone from Apple you have to buy it online. I have 300 bucks of in store Apple credit I would like to use towards an unlocked iphone. Anyone with some insight into whether the stores will carry unlocked?

If you don't care if its locked or unlocked and are ok with it being on a contract, then why not just go to a local Rogers store (or whatever provider you want). Get the phone from them, locked in your contract.

How would the apple store honor that deal, they are not a cellular provider. If you are buying an unlocked iphone 4, you keep your plan and the only thing you'll need is a new sim from FIDO. If you are ready to sign a 3 year agreement again you can keep your plan and get an iphone 4.

question …i was planning to get iphone 4 on rogers on my brother's name but my brother is going on a vacation before July 23 so i don't know what do now i can get his credit card or SIN number, is that enough to sing up a new contract with rogers or they need my brother ?? please help

Can it be pre-ordered through Apple Online store and be delivered by FEDEX the day of (like in the states), or do you have to go through Rogers/Bellus the day of the release and wait a few more days to get it in the mail??

Hi Alex. Unlike in the U.S., in Canada the iPhone will be available unlocked at Apple Stores.

You should reserve an iPhone for pickup at the Apple Store Eaton Centre, which is in downtown Toronto.

Probably either way.

Pre-ordering will likely ensure it arrives on the day of release or maybe
one day later.

Waiting in line guarantees you one on launch day, that is if you are at
least in the 100th or less position in line.

i think the unlocked phone pricing will be very similar to the 3GS when it first came out.. in the Key note, they moved the 3GS down to the price point of the 3G and the 4G took the price point of the 3GS… i think they will start at $649/699 up to $749/799 for the most GBs one… i been doing ALOT of research trying to find out!! =D
