Google Health App Update Fixes Broken Fitbit Account Transfers and Sleep Scores

The Google Health app has received an update on iOS that addresses some bugs with the initial release. This new app from Google released just in time for the new Fitbit Air, replaced the former Fitbit app.

The design is a bit of hit and miss, as there’s so much data but it’s all over the place. While the Premium version includes the excellent Google Health Coach, the Google Health app itself still needs some polish, and it looks like it will get better over time.

Here’s what’s new in Google Health, version 5.01 released on Friday afternoon:

  • View and log previous custom foods
  • Handling of food logs from multiple sources and unit selection when logging food
  • Handling of in-workout experience for Fitbit Air users when connectivity is lost
  • Blocking errors when trying to migrate from Fitbit to Google account
  • Missing sleep scores for some users
  • Family and Friends screen slow or unable to load for some users
  • Steps counted twice when MobileTrack and Apple Health are both on

The big fixes are resolving the errors related to migrating a Fitbit account to a Google account, plus the fixing of missing sleep scores for some.

What do you think of the Google Health app? Do you miss the old Fitbit app?
