Sources: iPhone 4 Release Date in Canada on July 23rd

Update 1: Just had an email from a Bell source–July 23rd date mentioned again.

In their latest PR release about iPhone 4 sales, Apple once again confirmed the iPhone 4 will be launched in Canada “by the end of July”. We have received two separate emails that provide specific information to corroborate a pending July 23rd launch.

According to our tipster, with close ties to an Apple Store, here are some vague details “CS” was able to provide:

  • Word around the store is a July 23rd launch for the iPhone 4.
  • Employees have been asked to start shifts at 7:00AM on that day.
  • No one is allowed to book time off on that day.

The above details are identical to what was provided regarding the iPad’s rumoured April 24th launch in Canada–until it was delayed by Apple.

Earlier today, another story popped up online with a similar date (their source was from a major carrier, not an Apple Store), but of course we have to always take these rumours with a grain of salt. We previously predicted July 23rd or July 30th, the last two Fridays of the month. Right now, the former is looking to be the best bet for the iPhone 4 launch in Canada.

All we can do now is wait. Rest assured that as we inch closer into July, the iPhone 4 launch date will soon by announced by Rogers, Bell, and Telus on the same day (they like to do things in tandem).

    It will be worth the wait, because by the time it gets to us, they will know and hopefully fix all the bugs and unknown problems the people in the U.S have been first to discover! =)

    i think the price works out to be about the same no matter where you buy it.. its best to buy it in your own country though, so you know you will be able to use it to its full potential.. where as if you buy it from the states you may have problems.. =D if you have to wait a little bit longer, just think that you will have the better phone, because apple has had time to fix any problems! =D

    maybe.. in the states you only have to be on a 2 year contract… and if your 3GS contract expires this year then you can upgrade by just paying for the new iphone.. uhh but you have to resign to AT&T with your new phone.. maybe canada will offer something similar !!

    I'd go to the Apple store!! They probably have more stock.. and that way you get what you want! Who cares about the wait, everyone will be excited to get there new phones.. and apple seems to make it a pretty big deal so it might be. umm fun.. lol

    that sounds like a whole lot of effort.. go on you tube and jailbreak a U.S one, and then you know it will work in the states too!! Im a 25yr old female.. basic computer knowledge.. i jailbroke the very first iphone.. if i can do it, you can do it! Its super easy!!

    I wouldn't want to commit to the iphone4 just yet, if I were you guys. There's already like multiple Class Action Suits against both AT&T and Apple just south of the boarder.

    Is all the proof i need to see that the phone may be delayed here in Canada and wherever country that will have the same Release date. Let's hope Mr Jobs does his JOB right and fix these issues, otherwise the money Apple made on the 1.7 million iphone4 units sold, will all go back to those who sued the pants off of Apple and AT&T in the USA

    BTW, I am still getting the iphone 4 just not right away due to my 3G being enough for me as a phone for now, and i don't really need any of those iOS 4.0 features as they are simply replicated on a JB iphone.

    i was in England on the release day and I walked into some carrier store not sure which and asked if they had more in stock if i did not preoder one and they said they had 8 so i dont think you will have trouble getting your hands on one if you go through a provider, besides alot of ppl arent willing to dish out 800 as they just got the 3gs a year ago and cant update

    Do people know if upgrades are available right away? I have a Iphone 3G and am eligable for an upgrade and am going to use it on the Iphone 4. I have seen in the past where it was only new users who can get phones when they are first released. Anyone have any ideas?

    I believe so. I've asked around at 3 or 4 Rogers Wireless stores just checking if I'm eligible to upgrade right away at the advertised price point, and they said it shouldn't be a problem. I have a 3G as well (got it July 12/08); they told me as long as it's 24 months (to the day) into my contract, I should be eligible. Hopefully that helps!

    I have a black iPhone 3G 8GB that I got in July 2008 and am looking to upgrade to the 32GB iPhone 4. I'm just wondering: Because I have an 8GB, can I only upgrade to an 8GB (which would be a 3GS) or does capacity not factor into the upgrade process?

    Apple Stores have the EXACT same access as each wireless carrier store.

    I have done, ps2 launch way back in the day, the original iphone launch in buffalo, xbox 360 and PS3 launches… and all those I was there 12 hours before, and about 3rd to 6th in line for each.
    Even for the Modern Warfare 2 launch, I was there 5 hours before, and there was a line of 20 people.

    This release date was just speculation. No one knew the official date until now.

    iPhone 4 officially comes out on July 30th in Canada. Download the version 4.1 to get rid of some of the bugs in it. There will be no more unlimited data plan anymore either. Buy a bumper for $29.99 at most phone retailers to fix the antenna problem. Also I recommend the Zagg INVISIBLEshield for your iPhone 4 to prevent scratches. If your still reading the FaceTime will only be over wifi an will Not be over the 3G network. IMPORTANT: Buy phone insurance for the iPhone 4 due to all the problems (if your service provider let's you). Last but not least I'm not an Apple obsessed geek.
