Why Why Why Didn’t I Buy Apple Stock Years Ago?

Today Apple announced record-breaking revenues and iPhone and iPad sales, in their 2011 third quarter. In after hours trading, their stock even exceeded $400 US/share, reflecting the non-stop momentum of the past few years.

Thinking back to when world was coming to an end in the Fall of 2008, and Apple shares were available at $82 US/share. Apple stock was there and ready for the taking. Even when the worldwide economy started to rebound, the stock was still within reach for many.

Why haven’t we purchased any shares since then? The Joy of Tech reminds us below:

Brilliant.

Is it mean to send this article to a guy I know that could have easily sunk $1,000,000 into Apple as I advised him to in 2007?

No if he had a mill to spend into stock and make more than 5 times initial investment and refused. By all means rub it in.

I had invested 20k in Apple stock, back in 2006, but I also lost 60k in other ventures since then.  Maybe it’s time to cash out now 😉

its easy when its all said and down

but what goes up, must come down. they were at 180, then down to 90…now back up to 375.
(also look at google, same thing with their stocks, they were less than 100, now above 600..now their just growth has cooled down..and so will apples)

Maybe he invested in Teck instead: $3.42 in March 2009, $64.24 Jan 2011; an 18 fold increase in less than 2 years.

In 1984, when I just finished university, this co-worker asked me if I want to buy any Apple stock (his father was a trader) – so I said “what’s stock ?” – after he explained it to me, I said – “that’s really stupid, and a name like  apple – that – that will never fly..”…  I didn’t buy any…  I wish I had an emoticon for how I felt over a few last years…

Back in 2005, I was looking to buy a laptop and after comparing Apples to Dells I chose Apple (am now a big fanboy) and thought that if it was good enough for me then I should buy not just a laptop, but the company as well.  Was $33 back then, I wish I had bought more, but you never know.

Spoken like a man who doesn’t trade stocks. Any season trader knows there are tons of way to cash in without selling a share.
