iOS 7.1.1 Untethered Jailbreak Shown Off in New Video [WATCH]

Looks like progress has been made on the iOS 7.1.1 jailbreak scene, as earlier this evening security researcher @i0n1c, also known as Stefan Esser, posted an image of his yellow iPhone 5c running Cydia on iOS 7.1.1:

Esser goes on to detail the his exploit, which he explains as “a single beautiful kernel bug that goes from mobile to kernel.” This exploit impressed jailbreak veteran @MuscleNerd, who suspects Esser will sell his exploit.
That iOS 7.1.1 jailbreak is not based on a long vulnerability chain. It uses a single beautiful kernel bug that goes from mobile to kernel.

Later on in the evening, iOS hacker @winocm posted a video of his iPhone 4 running an untethered iOS 7.1.1 jailbreak (he says he was “bored” on the weekend). Check it out below:
As for other devices running an untethered iOS 7.1.1 jailbreak, @winocm says it “would work elsewhere…if you put in the effort.”
Currently, an untethered jailbreak exists for iOS 7 through iOS 7.0.6 via evasi0n7. Nothing has been released yet for iOS 7.1 yet.
No word as to when there will be an iOS 7.1.1 jailbreak released, but with iOS 8 around the corner, it would be smart to hold off to prevent exploits from being “burned” by Apple. Anyone excited for this?

I say unleash the 7.1.1 jailbreak, for those that want to stick with iOS 7. There will always be exploits, regardless of iOS version.
Well since the hackers have already tipped their hand I don’t see the logic behind “it would be smart to hold off to prevent exploits from being “burned” by Apple.” It’s out there now & I’m sure Apple is working to patch the exploit as I’m writing this. So why not release it now even if they want to charge $$$ for it? I’d update to the latest iOS firmware & then pay to acquire the jailbreak.
Nothing was released and specific details weren’t either. So Apple can’t patch it 😉
