Amazon and Best Buy to Launch New Fire TV Edition Smart TVs in Canada

Amazon has partnered with retail giant Best Buy in a multi-year partnership to bring new Fire TV Edition Smart TVs to the United States and Canada.

Bezos best buy

First launching in the U.S. this summer, Best Buy will sell over ten 4K and HD Fire TV Edition models from Insignia and Toshiba, while these smart televisions “will be available for purchase in Canada later this year.”

Jeff Bezos, Amazon founder and CEO, said in a statement, “These Fire Edition smart TVs by Insignia and Toshiba deliver beautiful visuals and all the movies and TV shows you love, with an experience that gets better every day with Alexa. We could not have a better partner in this endeavor.”

These new smart TVs will make streaming from a TV much easier, while support is included to attach an HD antenna, which would enable Alexa to search for broadcast TV as well, on top of TV episodes and movies from Netflix, Prime Video, HBO, PlayStation Vue, Hulu and more (depending on country).

Here’s how Amazon describes the Toshiba 4K Ultra HD – Fire TV Edition:

Fire TV Edition provides a smart TV experience that seamlessly integrates your favorite streaming and live over-the-air content on a unified home screen. With true-to-life 4K UHD picture quality, premium Dolby surround sound, and access to all the movies and TV shows you love, Fire TV Edition delivers a superior TV experience that gets smarter everyday with Alexa. The included Voice Remote with Alexa lets you easily launch apps, search for TV shows, play music, switch inputs, control smart home devices, and more, simply by using your voice.

These televisions will be available for purchase from Best Buy online and at retail stores, and also from Amazon, via Best Buy as a third party seller, for the first time.
