Apple Just Opened Siri AI to Every App, Here’s What Changes

Apple is opening Siri AI to every third-party app in the iOS 27.3, iPadOS 27.3, macOS 27.3 and visionOS 27.3 betas, according to a November 3 note on Apple Developer.

Until now, only a smaller set of apps had deep hooks into the new assistant, but starting today any developer can plug their app into Siri AI with App Intents.

For people who use an iPhone every day, that means you should eventually be able to ask Siri AI to handle tasks inside the apps you already rely on, not just Apple’s own ones. Checking a delivery, booking a reservation or placing an order are the kinds of requests Apple lists as examples once those apps adopt the new tools.

The way into Siri AI for outside apps is App Intents, which let software tell the assistant what it can do and what content it holds. Once those pieces are in place, Siri AI can use personal context, notice what is on your screen and follow natural language, so you can ask in your own words instead of memorizing exact commands.

Developers can also teach Siri AI “skills,” which combine several steps into one request when a job needs more than a single tap. Siri AI can surface items from the Spotlight semantic index as well, including things that do not fit an older, fixed schema, so search across apps should feel less boxed in.

Apple says it has already wired these capabilities into Calendar, Files, Finder, Journal, Mail, Maps, Messages, Music, Notes, Photos, Preview, Reminders, Safari, Shortcuts and Weather. Examples it offers include finding a coffee shop you visited last week or archiving files that have not been opened in more than a year. Asking Siri AI what each of those apps can do is how Apple suggests exploring the new actions.

Canadians who run their devices in French get a clear benefit here. Siri AI already works in English, French, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese and Spanish, with French support arriving when iOS 27.2 rolled out. Traditional Chinese, Norwegian, Turkish and Vietnamese are still listed as coming soon.

Everyday users should not expect a flood of new voice actions overnight. Apple says this work ships to customers in a few months, with App Store submissions for these experiences opening in the spring. Terms and usage policies for Siri AI experiences are still coming, and the company notes that some Apple Intelligence features that run on its servers already face daily limits, with paid expanded access for heavier Siri AI cloud use planned later.

Siri AI remains unavailable in the EU on iOS, iPadOS and watchOS, and it is not available for users under 13. It also needs an Apple Intelligence-capable device set to a supported language.

Which apps do you most want to control with Siri AI once developers start shipping these hooks?
