Today, Apple has launched a new iTunes Tumblr page which highlights the best content of 2014. The page is organized much like Apple’s website, with music, movies, TV shows, and books displayed along the header.
The content below the header mirrors the album art layout of iTunes, showcasing various images and GIFs related to the content. As with any Tumblr blog, users can like the posts and share them to popular social media sites like Facebook and Twitter.
If you are interested in specific categories, you can click the “See All” button to dive even further into each category. The “Best of 2014” blog shows off a variety of milestones from the past year, including Guardians of the Galaxy, The LEGO Movie, and artists like Nicki Minaj.
“Apple infamously used Tumblr for an iPhone 5c advertising campaign. For a while now, the iTunes and iBooks teams have been running active Twitter accounts — despite Apple, as a whole entity, still lacking an official account. The @iTunesMusic account has over 6 million followers, for instance.”
In September 2013, Apple CEO Tim Cook joined Twitter and the company has also liveblogged its own most recent media events, where they announced the iPhone 6 and Apple Pay.
Apple has been expanding its social media presence after the company hired Musa Tariq, Nike’s former director of social media. Before working at Nike, Tariq also worked closely with Apple’s head of retail Angela Ahrendts at Burberry. Tariq is said to be behind the company’s recent social media push.
