According to New York-based financial site Bank Innovation, sources say Apple is said to be in talks with Nordstrom as an early retail partner for its upcoming iPhone 6 mobile payments platform.
The talks Nordstrom and Apple have been engaged are said to be related to payments — but the extent of those talks is unclear. Apple was looking for a clothing brand with a large physical reach to join its to-be-launched payments platform, our source said, but also with an established, high-end brand. With a strong brick-and-mortar presence and a focus on digital innovation, our source said Nordstrom was a “great” pick for Apple.
Anonymous Nordstrom employees say the retail chain has updated their point of sale (POS) terminals “a few weeks ago” which will support newer iPhones, as they are the same terminals being used within Apple Stores.
The site says other retailers were in talks to partner with Apple but lost out to Nordstrom as they lacked the vast brick and mortar presence of the latter.
