Earlier today Slashgear reported on a tweet from T-Mobile UK, citing BlackBerry Messenger would be available for download for iPhone and Android on June 27th.
Research in Motion had previously confirmed BBM would make its way onto iOS and Android this summer.
But as for the rumoured June 27th date in the above tweet? It’s false and not happening, according to sources familiar with the situation speaking to Business Insider:
According to a source with knowledge of BlackBerry’s plans, that date is not correct. In fact, our source called all those stories you may have read “bogus.”
SAI also points to a former report by GSM Arena that noted June 27th would be the launch date of BBM for iOS–but that information came from a Twitter account ‘@bbworldwid’ that does not exist anymore.
From what it looks like, the June 27th launch date does not look very good right now, but we’ll have to wait and see. Does anyone out there actually have a need for BBM for iOS right now?
