Elgato Announces HomeKit Eve Aqua Smart Sprinkler, Eve Flare Smart Light

Elgato is expanding its smart home device lineup to the outdoors with the announcement of two new HomeKit-enabled accessories.

According to a press release sent to IIC, consumer technology product developer Elgato today announced the launch of two new Homekit-enabled accessories designed for warmer weather – the “Eve Aqua” and “Eve Flare.”

The Eve Aqua is essentially a Bluetooth-enabled “smart sprinkler” that attached to your home’s spigot, allowing users to remotely control the flow of water. It screws onto the standard tap thread, and then connects via Bluetooth low energy. After that, users can turn it on via the Eve app, Siri, or any other HomeKit-enabled device.

“Eve Aqua keeps your lawn and garden green without you having to lift a finger,” says Ina Hirsch, Elgato’s Director of Marketing. “Just tell Siri to start watering or set schedules for automatic irrigation – Eve Aqua will take care of the timing, the amount, and automatic shutoff. A fully autonomous device, Eve Aqua is perfect for keeping your plants watered while you’re away on vacation.”

Presumably, this will allow for one to easily set a watering schedule for one’s lawn and/or garden, saving the hassle of having to remember to turn the water on and off, preventing both over- and under-watering.

First announced at this year’s CES, the Eve Aqua can be preordered for $100 USD starting Tuesday, and it will be widely available on June 25.

Next up is Elgato’s Eve Flare, a waterproof HomeKit-enabled, battery-powered portable indoor/outdoor LED lamp. Roughly the size of a basketball, the lamp runs for up to six hours, and can be charged wirelessly through inductive charging.

The Eve Flare is able to react to a Siri command, and can also be set to run on an automatic schedule through HomeKit. Additionally, the lamp features a variety of “ready-made shades,” allowing users to choose their own hues via a full-spectrum color wheel.

“Making your garden or patio shine is easy with Eve Flare. Find a spot, open the Eve App, pick the perfect shade and enjoy hours and hours of soothing light,” says Hirsch.

Unfortunately, the Eve Flare is currently only available for pre-order in Europe, where shipping will be begin on June 25 for €99.95.
